What the practice does.

Six services that cover a scheme end to end. Most projects take all of them; any one can be picked up on its own.

  • We start with the room and the hours it is used. Daylight is measured, sightlines are plotted, and the scheme is set out as levels and layers before a single product is named.

The sequence

Four stages, in this order, on every project. Nothing moves forward until the stage before it is signed off.

  1. Stage 01

    Survey

A day on site with a light meter, the drawings and the people who use the room.

  2. Stage 02

    Scheme

Levels, layers and scenes agreed on paper before any product is priced.

  3. Stage 03

    Specify

Fittings selected against the scheme, costed, and scheduled for the programme.

  4. Stage 04

    Commission

Installed, aimed after dark, adjusted, documented and handed over.

Specification is where a scheme is won or lost. The fitting has to do what the drawing promised, on the budget that was agreed.

We hold the specification through value engineering rather than around it — if something has to change, the substitute is tested against the same levels, optics and rendering targets as the original.
